ACC Tournament 2018 Live

Syracuse won its first ACC Tournament game since joining the league in a 73-64 decision over Wake Forest on Tuesday evening, capping an eventful first day for the league’s tournament at the Barclays Center in New York.

Earlier in the day, Boston College won over Georgia Tech and Notre Dame outlasted Pitt. The results were as expected, setting up a juicy slate of games on Wednesday that is highlighted by Notre Dame-Virginia Tech and North Carolina-Syracuse — two games that may determine the fate of two ACC teams living on the bubble in the Irish and the Orange.

No. 1 overall seed Virginia, which won the regular season by four games, will enter the tourney as the presumptive favorite after going 17-1 in regular season play. No. 2 seed Duke, surging into the postseason and fresh off a rivalry win over Tobacco Road foe North Carolina on Saturday, will aim to play spoiler as it looks to repeat as tournament winners from a season ago.

For the second year in a row, the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center. The action begins on Tuesday, March 6, with the championship game starting at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 13. Last year’s champion, the Duke Blue Devils, will be looking to repeat for the first time since its 2009-11 run as tournament champs.

The Stakes

will be the No. 2 seed behind the No. 1 seed Virginia, who won the regular season title by going 17-1 in the conference and 28-2 overall record. The Cavaliers will be the top-seeded team for just the fourth time overall. The Cavaliers’ lone ACC loss came at the hands of Virginia Tech on Feb. 10. Right behind Duke is No. 3 Miami, followed by No. 4 Clemson, No. 5 NC State, No. 6 UNC, No. 7 Virginia Tech, No. 8 Florida State, and No. 9 Louisville.

The three ACC bubble teams don’t have easy matchups, but an argument can be made Louisville having the most ideal showdown when it takes on Florida State to open the four-game slate.
The 19-12 Cardinals split their two meetings with Florida State in the regular season, as they won on January 10 by four points and lost on February 3 by the same margin.
